I watch my kids grow, constantly changing their identity as they continue to grow and be influenced by their environment, friends, and the world around them. Sometimes as adults we laugh as one week they are completely Harry Potter obsessed to the next week despising anything to do with Harry Potter. It is hard to keep up with the constantly changing likes and dislikes as it seems they change every week. But isn’t it true that as women we struggle with identity too? True, as an adult woman I feel much more secure than I did in my adolescence, but I still see that as the seasons change, so does my style, what is important to me, and who I want to be when I grow up. I may even be searching for my identity more since I have become a mother because it is so easy to get lost in the daily grind of being a mom, a housekeeper, a chef, a wife, etc. Our seasons of life and our priorities change and evolve, but I believe that is how we continue to grow into better mothers, wives, friends, and humans in general. The best advice I’ve been given as a mom is that what may be one fellow woman’s season might not be the same one we find ourselves in, which is ok. Allow yourself to embrace all the stages of life and give yourself grace, you deserve it mama.
